The state of decaf here
Belgium has no decaf-only roaster. What it does have is proximity — it sits inside easy overnight range of France, the Netherlands and Germany, which between them hold most of the decaf worth buying on the continent. Belgian specialty roasters carry decaf, but none makes it the centre of the business.
Getting it here
Inside the EU customs union, so intra-EU shipping arrives clean. The nearest decaf-only roasters are Les Révélations in France and D Stands For in Vienna, both of which ship within the EU.
What counts as decaf here
0.1% caffeine by dry weight, for roasted coffee
Set by Directive 1999/4/EC.

Les Révélations Paris, France · decaf only
The most flavour-ambitious of the European decaf-only operations: a Q Grader roasting on a Loring S35, with a range split between DÉCLIC blends and DÉCOLLAGE single origins from Colombia, Ethiopia, Kenya and Panama. Water process covers most of the range, with a handful of EA and at least one CO₂ lot. They state plainly which lots are not organic-certified and why, which is more honesty than the category norm. Seasonal pause — the site says roasting resumes 31 August 2026. Check availability before ordering.

The Coffeevine Amsterdam, Netherlands · curator
A curated multi-roaster box out of Amsterdam, shipping to 60+ countries, whose monthly selection has a standing decaf slot alongside the European and global roasters. They have used that slot to platform specialists — Calm, D Stands For and Les Révélations have all been featured — which makes them a discovery route more than a supply route. Process varies by featured roaster rather than being a house choice. At time of checking both the decaf subscription and the individual decaf bag were sold out. The decaf line appears to run in cycles rather than continuously.

Belgium is a good place to drink coffee and an awkward place to buy specialty decaf. There is no Belgian decaf-only roaster that I can find, and the local specialty roasters who do carry decaf treat it the way most of the industry does — one bag, unlabelled as to process, sitting at the bottom of the range.
What Belgium does have is position. Amsterdam is two hours by train, France is next door, and the Austrian and German options ship into the EU without a customs border. For once, being small and central is the advantage.
The customs question, plainly
The single biggest factor in what you should order is not roast quality, it is whether the parcel crosses the UK border.
The UK has a disproportionate share of Europe’s decaf specialists — four of the seven serious operations in this directory. But a coffee order from the UK to Belgium is an import: potentially VAT on arrival plus a carrier handling fee, which on a €18–20 bag is not a rounding error. Add transit time to a product whose whole selling point is that it was roasted recently.
The practical rule: order from inside the EU unless the specific coffee does not exist inside the EU. For decaf specifically, the EU options are good enough that this is rarely a real sacrifice.
Reading the list below
The directory below is filtered to roasters that ship to Belgium or ship EU-wide. Where a roaster’s shipping isn’t confirmed, it isn’t listed as confirmed — check before ordering.
Two caveats specific to this market. Several of these operations run seasonal pauses in August, which is exactly when you’re most likely to be reading this. And the decaf line at curator-style sellers runs in cycles rather than continuously, so “sold out” is normal rather than a bad sign.
Questions
- Is there a decaf-only coffee roaster in Belgium?
- Not that I could find. Belgian specialty roasters carry decaf, but none makes it the centre of the business. The nearest decaf-only roasters are Les Révélations in France and D Stands For in Vienna.
- What ships decaf to Belgium without customs charges?
- Anything shipping from inside the EU — France, Austria, Germany, the Netherlands — moves without customs formalities. Orders from UK roasters cross a customs border and may attract VAT and a handling fee on arrival, which on a €20 bag of coffee is a meaningful share of the price.
- Is it worth ordering decaf from the UK to Belgium?
- Only if the coffee is genuinely unavailable closer. Between shipping and the customs handling fee, a UK bag often lands at close to double its shelf price, and it spends longer in transit — which matters for something you want fresh.
